Class Homework
Why homework for choir?
Great question! Your work during the week on music allows you and your singing prayer team to spend more class time on prayer and nuance and sing more beautiful music!
When doing homework and practicing, remember your mission and sing with specific intention(s). These are all "prayers in progress". Pro Choir tips and reminders for you:
-
Simply do your best, do as much you can, and ask God for help in taking the prayers to heart.
-
There is no cramming in music study. Pace yourself with shorter, focused sessions several times a week.
-
If you know specific prayers well, take time now and then to review or memorize- delight in what you know!
-
Pray and speak the words. Use your Catholic imagination to paint a picture.
-
Speak the words in rhythm.
-
Write in solfege, look for patterns, and try to hear parts using your “inner ear”.
-
Play some notes on an instrument, if needed.
-
Look or ask for a recording.
-
Ask other teammates for help. Practicing with a friend or a small group can make homework more fun!
-
Leadership opportunities will be given firstly to those who complete homework and engage during class.
