Christopher Check, Emcee

President, Catholic Answers

Christopher Check is a distinguished leader, historian, and speaker, currently serving as the president of Catholic Answers. A graduate of Rice University, Christopher’s career has been marked by a deep commitment to the Church and a passion for sharing the richness of Catholic tradition. He spent nearly two decades as vice president of The Rockford Institute, where he contributed significantly to advancing Catholic culture and thought. Before his work in the nonprofit sector, Christopher served as a field artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of captain during his seven years of service.

We are honored to have Christopher Check as our Emcee for this evening’s Canticle Gala. His profound understanding of the Church’s heritage and his dedication to preserving and promoting the beauty of our faith through sacred music make him an ideal host for tonight’s event.

Fr. Sebastian Walshe, O.Praem

Norbertine Canon, Abbey of St. Michael, Diocese of Orange

Fr. Sebastian Walshe, a Norbertine Canon of the Abbey of St. Michael in the Diocese of Orange, California, is a professor of philosophy in the seminary program at the Abbey. A native of Pasadena, Fr. Sebastian studied at Thomas Aquinas College in California, The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome (the Angelicum), where he earned a Doctorate in Philosophy. His scholarly work focuses on the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, particularly the relationship between the common good and personal dignity.
 

In addition to his academic duties, Fr. Sebastian served as a visiting professor at the Angelicum and remains dedicated to the intellectual and spiritual formation of future priests.

We are honored to welcome Fr. Sebastian as our Keynote Speaker for the Canticle Gala. His deep understanding of the faith and commitment to the Church make him an inspiring voice for this special evening.
